Fabulous Last Minute Gifts for Writers (and they’re cheap too!)

  1. Uni-ball Jetstream3 3 Color Ballpoint Multi Pen – 0.7 mm – Clear Body $6 – Stylish and an affordable alternative for those who want a decent Multi-Pen, but can’t spend mad Sharbo X cash money!
  2. Crayola Pip-Squeak Writers $4.99 – I don’t want to spoil my upcoming review of these cute pens, but I will say they are whimsical gift for the quirky writer in your life. Writing should have a healthy mix of serious time and play time and these definitely provide an outlet for that.
  3. B&N Basic Lined Journal – assorted colors $4.95 – I wrote about these workhorses of my writing/journaling/media empire domination and I can’t recommend them enough. If you absolutely have to get a journal for a writer and know little about them, the basic lined journal in class black (no hearts, flowers or bling) is a handsome looking, elegant stocking stuffer.
  1. Pilot Varsity Disposable Fountain Pen $3 – Office Supply Geek wrote a lovely review of this starter fountain pen. For those who want to know the joys of ink stained fingers and rainbow’s worth of pretty hues, but aren’t yet technically skilled or intimidated by fountain pens. This is the pen for your writer friend who wants to go there but still needs training wheels!
  2. “On Writing” by Stephen King $8 – King’s book – part memoir, part craft manual – has become a much beloved writing classic, which won’t offend your writing friend, if they should happen to unwrap it during a holiday party. It’s a sharply written, smart, book and its advice is deftly delivered with wit, humor and style for days.
  3. Writersblok Bamboo Mini Notebooks pack of 5 $4.99 – Oh these are totally delish. More than a merely a Volant knockoff these adorable notebooks have some impressive paper and are fun to use. No writer or paper junkie will scoff upon receipt of these puppies.

I know I didn’t get all the blowout bargain bonanzas, so comment with your bargain holiday gift ideas that pack a real punch, whether its for writers specifically or other creative and crafty types!

Because even writers need a break …

Crayola Poster Crayons ($3) are outstanding. They’re super saturated and chunky so you don’t break them. Print a few (free) Patterns for Colouring and staple them zine-style. Good to go.

I look forward to your Pip-Squeaks review. A lot of made-for-kiddos products don’t hold up under my kids’ usage, specically my daughter who draws between five to twenty fabulous monsters a day. I’m trying to educate myself on good supplies but overwhelmed by choices! Love having your site in my feed reader!

The bamboo mini-notebooks are beautiful and that is a pretty great price too!

Great stocking stuffer ideas! Thank you.

I am surprised to see King’s book on so many people must read list. I have always dismissed him but maybe I will give this a try, if I can get a kindle edition.
